Mass shootings have become so prevalent in the U.S. that training for those scenarios has become commonplace for businesses and civilians as well as law enforcement. The Newnan Coweta Safety Council in conjunction with the Newnan Coweta Chamber are offering a free Active Shooter seminar presented by Lt. Mark Cooper and Inv. Denver Atwood on Tuesday, February 9, 2016 from 8:30 am – 11:00 am. This seminar is open to all businesses and citizens who are interested in learning how to best protect themselves in the event an event should occur.

With the New Year comes a new year of challenges for small and mid-size employers as the Affordable Care Act (ACA) goes into full effect. In 2015, employers with 50 to up to 100 full-time equivalents were granted relief from some of the ACA requirements including the employer shared responsibility provisions. However, these employers are still subject to the information reporting responsibilities for 2015 that require employers to send reports to employees and to the IRS beginning March 31, 2016.
